AVEN exists for intimate, intentional introductions, and that requires absolute confidentiality. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect, why we need it, and the rights you hold over your information.

Our Foundational Privacy Commitment
In plain language: We don't sell your personal information. Ever. Our business is introductions, not advertising.
AVEN (“we”, “our”, or “us”) was established on the principle that intimate, personal dating introductions require absolute confidentiality and respect.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal profile information, chat messages, photos, or location data to third-party data brokers, ad networks, or commercial advertisers. We intend to measure our success by the relationships our members form, not by monetizing your attention.
Information We Collect
In plain language: Only what an introduction genuinely needs: your account details, profile, coarse location, verification media you choose to share, and how you use the service.
We only collect data necessary to create authentic introductions, maintain platform integrity, and protect member safety:
- Account & Eligibility Data: Email address and password hash. You confirm you are 18 or older when you register; the server refuses ages under 18. Your date of birth is not sent to our servers.
- Dating Profile Information: Chosen display name, biographical text, prompt answers, relationship intentions, values selections, and uploaded profile photographs.
- Coarse Location Data: When location permissions are granted, your coordinates are rounded to about 1 km before they leave your device, and other members only ever see a distance in whole miles. Your exact GPS coordinates are never shown to other members.
- Identity Verification Media: When you elect to verify your profile, we collect a short live video clip. It is compared against profile photos to confirm authenticity and is not used for external surveillance or marketing. Verification media is held only for review, at most 14 days, and is deleted when a decision is made or you withdraw consent.
- Interaction Data: Introductions sent, likes, passes, mutual matches, chat messages, and reports filed to manage your active dating experience.
- Contact Hashes (optional): If you grant contact access to avoid familiar faces, one-way hashes of phone numbers are uploaded. Your address book itself never leaves your device.
Service Providers Who Process Data
In plain language: A small set of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf: hosting, the member API, push notifications, and email delivery. No advertisers, no data brokers.
AVEN does not sell personal data. The following service providers process limited data solely to operate the service, under our instructions:
- Cloudflare: hosts the member API, the website, and content delivery, and stores member data for us under contract. Processes account identifiers, profile data, and media you upload.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging): delivers push notifications on Android. Processes device tokens and notification content.
- Resend: transactional email delivery for website contact-form messages. Processes the message contents you submit.
- Supabase (legacy): the website's account-deletion form still routes through a legacy Supabase function, which does not cover accounts in the current production backend. We are replacing it; see our Account Deletion page.
- Google Fonts: delivers the site's typefaces (Bodoni Moda, Manrope). Receives standard HTTP metadata (IP address, user agent) with each font request; sets no cookies.

Anti-Trilateration & Location Privacy
In plain language: Other members never see where you are, only a rough distance. Locations are rounded and distances generalized so your whereabouts can't be reverse-engineered.
Dating apps have historically suffered from trilateration attacks, where an adversary calculates a member's physical residence by sampling relative distances from three different points.
AVEN limits this vector by rounding locations to about 1 km and showing other members only a whole-mile distance. Your exact geographic coordinates are never displayed on public member surfaces.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
In plain language: Delete your account and your profile, photos, and messages are purged immediately. A small safety archive is kept briefly to protect the community from repeat abusers.
You own your personal information. When you delete your AVEN account:
- Your public dating profile, prompts, photos, and location markers are permanently purged immediately.
- Pending introductions, outgoing likes, and passes are permanently destroyed.
- Active chat threads are terminated and unlinked from your active profile.
- Trust & Safety Retention Buffer: To protect the community against serial harassers, banned accounts, and repeat bad actors, limited pseudonymous identifiers are retained in cold storage for 90 days for safety defense and dispute resolution, then permanently destroyed.
- Reports: Reports about misconduct, including any copied messages, are kept for up to 90 days after account deletion so a serious report cannot be erased by deleting an account, then destroyed.
- Account Recovery History: A limited recovery history is kept for 30 days to restore accounts deleted in error.
- Financial Anti-Fraud: AVEN has not announced paid features. If they are ever introduced, store purchase records would be retained in anonymized form strictly for anti-fraud and billing audit purposes.

Children's Privacy (18+ Strict Policy)
In plain language: AVEN is adults only. If we find an under-18 account, it's terminated immediately.
AVEN is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18. If we discover an account registered by a minor, the account and all associated records are terminated immediately.
